(387) A focus on Interprofessional Education planning within a Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum.

Objective: Following an internal assessment, the School focused on Interprofessional Education(IPE) in the PharmD curriculum in Spring 2023, hiring a faculty to lead IPE efforts, complementing a newly hired college assistant dean of IPE. Our objective was to increase the number and scope of IPE activities within the P1-P3 didactic curriculum.

Methods: Key stakeholders collaborated on IPE activity planning. Development of IPE activities focused on roles and responsibilities, scopes of practice, patient care focus, and team management to enhance professional identity formation and were mapped to IPEC competencies. Creative solutions included asynchronous online modules, virtual learning/gathering (zoom and electronic medical record sharing), and traditional in-person events.

Results: Four events were completed in AY23-24, with six to eight additional events planned for AY 24-25. All events are followed with assessments to measure the impact of IPE learning on student perceptions and attitudes regarding other health care professionals and the enrichment of the learning environment.

Relationships were established with programs where IPE events had not occurred previously. The professions involved in IPE activities include Pharmacy, Medicine, Physician Assistant, Speech Language Pathology and Audiology, and Nursing. The annual health fair allows pharmacy, nursing, and physician assistant students to work together to provide influenza vaccinations to students on campus, followed with a post-IPE activity debrief. AY 23-24 student responses revealed 78% improvement in interprofessional collaboration.

Conclusion: Enhancement of the process for identification and implementation of an IPE curriculum has resulted in an increased number and variety of activities, leveraging technology and new faculty resources and leadership. Assessment of the IPE outcomes is ongoing and has been incorporated into the Assessment Plan.
