(406) Developing an Instructional Tool Portfolio to Enhance Online Pharmacy Education

Objective: To develop a portfolio of instructional tools available to faculty to enhance online learning, improve communication, and allow flexibility in content delivery.

Methods: Upon creation of a distance pharmacy pathway, faculty were tasked with exploring current technology capabilities and to find new technology and methods to deliver synchronous and asynchronous content virtually. Best practices were developed to enhance LMS course layout and communication. Faculty utilized a variety of methods to deliver course content to best suit unique course needs. New instructional spaces were created including zoom rooms, a Lightboard, and a live class session room for virtual education.

Conclusion: Faculty members have unique preferences regarding content delivery in a virtual setting. Being educated on evolving best practices and having a diverse portfolio of instructional tools empower faculty members to enhance virtual pharmacy education.
