University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) Feik School of Pharmacy (FSOP) refers to the students, staff, and faculty as “Pharmily” because of the supportive environment, recognition, and appreciation for one another. FSOP fosters a workplace culture that embodies collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity. The Pharmily translates into a close-knit community where individuals are encouraged to share ideas, collaborate on teaching, research, and mentor one another. FSOP celebrates achievements and milestones, whether it’s a groundbreaking research publication, a successful student outreach program, or an exemplary teaching performance. Over the past year, the school provided increased opportunities to recognize faculty and staff by building on the culture of value and appreciation in many ways including expansion of teaching and staff awards. To foster value and appreciation, the faculty and school meetings always start with a reflection and end with accolades. The reflection is generally based on the university’s five core values: faith, education, innovation, service, and truth. The school demonstrates value and appreciation by including goals that address specific wellness and retention components impacting faculty and staff in the new strategic plan.
