(418) Impact and Perception of Staff-Driven Webinar on Assisting Visually Impaired Patients

Objective: To assess the effectiveness of a staff-driven webinar on best practices for serving visually impaired patients, and to measure student, faculty, staff and administrator perceptions on enhancing healthcare accessibility.

Methods: The webinar was presented by the Chief Executive Officer of a company specializing in accessibility pharmacy services for the blind. A survey was distributed to attendees of a staff-driven webinar on enhancing accessibility for visually impaired patients. The survey asked participants to self-report their demographic data, awareness that this was a staff-driven event, confidence in serving visually-impaired patients before and after the webinar, and perceived value of the webinar. Comprehension questions assessed participants’ retention of the webinar content. Chi-square and descriptive statistics will be used to report the study findings.

Results: Data collection is still ongoing with pending results. Data to be reported will include survey completion response rate, participant demographics, and analysis of survey question responses.

Conclusions: Anticipated results will contribute to our understanding of the effectiveness of presenting a staff-driven webinar on best practices for visually impaired patients to student, faculty, staff and administration, and impact on perceptions of improving healthcare accessibility.
