(340) Assessing Student Application of Community Pharmacy EPAs After Completion of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences

Objective : To determine the impact of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences on the student’s ability to perform CORE Entrustable Professional Activities specific to a community pharmacy rotation. We predict a positive correlation between assessment score of students and number of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences completed.

Methods: A prospective quantitative assessment and qualitative survey was developed to be distributed to current fourth year students. A community pharmacy practicum was administered to the students during the spring of their third year. Students will retake a similar assessment with a different set of questions to assess the same entrustable professional activities (transcribing voicemails, identifying errors and omissions, product verification, patient counseling, and common drug knowledge​). The qualitative survey at the end is to collect descriptive data: (1) # of APPE rotations completed, (2) completion of community APPE rotation prior to assessment, (3) type of rotations student has completed, (4) if community rotation is chain or independent, and (5) pharmacy practice experience outside of APPE rotation​s.

Results: A total of 79 students are eligible to take assessment and survey. At this time 34 students have volunteered to participate in the study (46.6% response rate). Final results to be presented following completion of assessment and survey administration and data analysis.
