Graduate Education SIG Programming (Mini Session 1 of 2): Is Academia Attracting Enough Pharm.D. and Graduate Alumni?

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Identify trends in academic pharmacy interest among recent graduates
Define possible solutions to increase interest in academic pathways
Describe possible changes at their respective institutions to enhance interest in academic pharmacy

This Special Session will present current trends among Ph.D. and Pharm.D. graduates on academic pharmacy. We will discuss some workable solutions to improve traction for academic pharmacy. Specifically, we will cover successful stories of current faculty (mentor/mentees), a proposal to include senior Ph.D. students in the Basic Sciences SIG’s Peer Mentoring Program, and other relevant considerations.
