11:15 AM - 11:45 AM East Coast USA Time
Location: Hynes: 302/304/306
CE: 0.50
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
Select didactic teaching strategies that improve pharmacy students’ tolerance for ambiguity in healthcare.
Describe methods for assessing pharmacy students’ ability to effectively cope with situations and problems that lack clear and straightforward solutions or present uncertainty.
Evidence-based pedagogy for improving student pharmacists’ tolerance of ambiguity in healthcare is limited. This session describes how ambiguity tolerance training was threaded into a new pharmacy course using backwards design. Following the session, participants will be able to structure learning objectives that embrace the complex, ambiguous and unpredictable world of healthcare; develop learning activities focused on ambiguous situations and associated coping strategies; and identify strategies to assess tolerance of clinical areas of gray or uncertainty.
