At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
Take described examples of preceptor development strategies which utilize adult learning theory and incorporate them into preceptor development programming to improve the quality of preceptor development.
This session, designed for those involved in preceptor development and experiential education, will provide an overview of one institution’s innovative approach to re-imagining a preceptor development program utilizing adult learning theories. Adult learning theories such as the 6 principles of andragogy, ICAP Framework and social constructionist theory will be described. Strategies to incorporate adult learning theories into preceptor development programming will be discussed.
