Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Describe whole-person care and its components.
List strategies to increase components of whole-person and person-centered care in teaching methods and resources.
Develop a plan to apply a whole-person and person-centered care framework when designing or revising learning activities for pharmacy students.

Whole-person care entails a holistic, person-centered patient care approach that considers mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health; social determinants of health; and community context. Whole-person care is a component of COEPA Subdomain 2.4 (Person-centered care, Provider). In this session, faculty from three different Pharm.D. programs will share their expertise in teaching whole-person and person-centered care for people with serious illness. Participants will engage in refining their teaching strategies by applying the whole-person care framework.
