Ready or Not?: Supporting Academic Success in Today’s Student Pharmacists

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Describe effective academic support services provided at multiple institutions and within the academy
Discuss targeted topics and authentic scenarios related to academic success in the context of how one’s institution would address each topic
Draft strategies that may positively shape academic support services at home institutions

With the challenging pharmacy applicant pool and various internal and external factors influencing the academic success of today's student pharmacists, faculty and administrators are confronted with new challenges and opportunities in student support. This session will delve into students’ diverse learning needs and describe how several Pharm.D. programs support those facing academic challenges. Participants will discuss authentic scenarios of students with academic support needs and draft action plans for academic support initiatives at home institutions.
