Describe at least five holistic strategies for retaining mid-career faculty.
This session will provide strategies for retaining faculty based on published literature that includes perceived breaches of unwritten contracts and perspectives of departmental and university administrators and senior faculty members who have been involved in devising and implementing institutional change. Retention begins with recruitment but then needs to be nurtured during onboarding and as part of the overall enculturation process for new faculty members. Particular attention is needed for retention of underrepresented minorities.
