Susan J. Skledar, R.Ph., B.S., M.P.H., FASHP, is Director of Experiential Learning, and Professor, Department of Pharmacy & Therapeutics, at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) School of Pharmacy.
Since 2016, she has been Director of Experiential Learning, lecturing and precepting in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. She has been a clinical faculty member since 1992.
Prior to 2016, she was Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and Pharmacy Director in formulary management/drug use policy at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), a 20+ facility integrated health care delivery system, contributing over 400 hospital guidelines, 50+ peer-reviewed publications, and 20 book chapters/articles related to pharmacy practice.
Susan is a member of AACP, on the 2025 ACPE Standards Revision Workgroup (East Region representative), and as a AACP Experiential Education Mentoring Pod Leader and Leadership Circle Participant. She published over 10 manuscripts on innovations in teaching and experiential learning. She has been a leader at American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), as Chair of the Educational Steering Committee and Director-at-Large for the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners, and as the inaugural Chair of the Section of Pharmacy Educators Student Education and Learning Experiences Section Advisory Group (2021-2023).
Susan has been nationally recognized with the ASHP Best Practices Award in Health-System Pharmacy in 2000 and 2012, an individual winner of the APhA Pinnacle Award for Healthcare Quality Improvement, and the ASHP Distinguished Service Award. She was UPMC/Pitt Residency Preceptor of the Year in 2011 and 2016, and received Pitt Pharmacy Teacher of the Year in 2021.
