Silas Contaifer, Ph.D. candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a concentration in Pharmacotherapy, is a graduate researcher at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Pharmacy. Under the guidance of Dr. Dayanjan (Shanaka) Wijesinghe, Silas focuses on leveraging extended reality technologies to enhance medical training, particularly through virtual reality in pharmacy education and mixed reality in orthopedic surgery planning. With a strong academic background, including a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management from the University of Brasília, Silas has a 4.0 GPA and numerous awards, including the Professionalism Excellence Award and membership in Rho Chi and Phi Beta Delta honor societies. He has also developed and implemented various XR applications for medical disciplines. His work aims to refine medical training and improve patient outcomes through innovative technological applications.
