Dr. Islam Mohamed is the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs and Assistant Professor at California Northstate University College of Pharmacy (CNUCOP). Dr. Mohamed earned his Bachelor of Pharmacy from Ain-Sham University in Egypt in 2005, followed by his MS in Neuroscience as a Fulbright scholar from SUNY at Buffalo NY in 2008, and his PhD in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia in 2014. After which, he completed his postdoctoral training at Emory University School of Medicine and his In-Patient Pharmacist Intern training at Emory University Hospital Midtown. Since joining CNUCOP in 2017, Dr. Mohamed has been serving in several roles as the Chair of the Curriculum Committee, Chair of CNUCOP Strategic Planning and member of Assessment Committees. He also served as a Co-Chair for the CNUCOP ACPE accreditation Self-Study Sub-Committee.
Dr. Mohamed has 15 high impact original research publications and more than 30 peer-reviewed abstract presentations. Dr. Mohamed was awarded the 2021 Division of Pharmacology Educators Travel Award presented by the American Society for American Society of Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), followed by the 2021 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Biological Sciences section Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Mohamed also serves as a Research Mentor for the American Foundation of Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) Gateway Award. Dr Mohamed was recently awarded the 2023 ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Scholar Grant as a mentor & co-investigator for enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion & accessibility to quality healthcare services (DEIA) for local migrant communities.
