Lucio Volino, PharmD, CTTS is a Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Assessment at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy – Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and a Clinical Pharmacist at Barnabas Health Retail Pharmacy (BHRP) – Saint Barnabas Medical Center, RWJBarnabas Health. At BHRP, Dr. Volino manages an ambulatory care practice site and supports clinical services and transitions of care initiatives. He also develops and implements patient-centered self-care, preventive care, pharmacy-based immunization, and medication management programs across seven affiliated pharmacies. At the School of Pharmacy, Dr. Volino co-coordinates the integrated Pharmacotherapy Assessment Skills Series and Post-Rotational Evaluation and Preparation Seminar. In addition, he teaches within Self Care; Community Practice Management; Diabetes Ambassador; and Immunology, Ocular, and Dermatology Pharmacotherapy courses.
Dr. Volino is an active member of and/or has held leadership positions with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American Pharmacists Association, Big Ten Academic Alliance Performance-Based Assessment, Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO), New Jersey Pharmacists Association (NJPhA), Nonprescription Medicines Academy and Rho Chi Honor Society. He is also faculty advisor for Rho Chi, IPhO, National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), and Pharmacy Yearbook chapters at the School. Dr. Volino has been recognized for his excellence and dedication to teaching, clinical practice, and service as a recipient of the William and Helen Levine Teacher of the Year Award (nine times), Rho Chi Honor Society Faculty Advisor Award, NJPhA Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award, NJPhA Donald J. Wernik Academic Achievement Award, and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Chancellor Community Service Award.
