Dr. Bill Prescott serves as a Clinical Professor and Chair in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and is a faculty member in the school’s Division of Education and Teaching Innovation.
Dr. Prescott is an active member of AACP and recently completed his second term on the AJPE Editorial Board. He has been the recipient of several university, system, and national teaching awards, including the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Teacher of the Year Award in 2007 and 2011, the University at Buffalo Teaching Innovation Award in 2015, the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2017, and the Albert E. Rosica Jr. Memorial Award (for outstanding contributions to pharmacy education) from the American College of Apothecaries in 2013. He was honored as a Mid-American Conference Academic Leadership Development Program Fellow in 2020.
Dr. Prescott has served in several leadership positions at the University at Buffalo, including 5 years as Department Vice-Chair and 8 years as Department Chair. He led the development of several programs intending to improve advancement and encourage retention, including establishment of a junior faculty development and mentoring program in 2012 and a mid-career faculty mentoring program in 2017. Under his leadership, faculty resignations have decreased 7-fold, and promotion of junior and mid-career faculty have increased 2- and 4-fold, respectively.
