Dr. Hookstra Danielson is Chair and Professor at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville (SIUE). She supervises and mentors a department of over 20 practice faculty to support their success in practice, teaching, research, and service. She manages relationships with over a dozen residency programs and clinical sites where faculty practice, and oversees the experiential education team that places students with over 300 preceptors annually. Prior to transitioning to SIUE, she was Associate Dean at University of Washington for 16 years. She has also served on faculty at 3 additional pharmacy schools during her career spanning nearly 30 years. Dr. Hookstra has published nearly 30 peer-reviewed articles, 3 books, and multiple book chapters. She is a recognized national expert in interprofessional and experiential education and has presented numerous national and international presentations. Her classroom teaching is focused on practice skills, physical assessment, and diagnosis, which stems from her practice background in diabetes care ambulatory setting. She serves on the Board of Directors at AACP and is Associate Editor for the Journal of Interprofessional Education and Practice. She graduated with her bachelors in pharmacy and masters in business administration from Drake University and got her PharmD at University of Colorado. Her interests in scholarship blend assessment of IPE strategies with educational experiences in the practice setting.
