Jaime Maerten-Rivera received both an MS and PhD in Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation. She has worked in this area for many years and is currently the Director of Assessment at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. In this position she develops measurement instruments, collects and analyzes data, and assists in obtaining grants in order to improve instruction and outcomes and ensure that accreditation requirements are met. She has published a number of manuscripts and participated in conference presentations related to assessment of pharmacy education. These papers covered a variety of topics including, assessment of co-curriculum, interprofessional education (IPE) activities, advisement, PCOA and NAPLEX, the culture of assessment, and innovative teaching approaches. A number of these research initiatives, were a result of working groups formed through the Assessment SIG. She was a member of the group that received the 2019 AACP Assessment SIG Collaborative Publication award for research examining the culture of assessment in pharmacy colleges/schools, and recently led a group examining how co-curriculum is being implemented by ACPE accredited programs. She has taken on leadership roles in other work-related areas, including on the Co-Curriculum Committee at her School, and as a representative to the University’s Professional Staff Senate.
