Julie Cooper, PharmD, BCPS, BCCP is Chair and Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences at Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy at High Point University. Dr. Cooper earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from UNC School of Pharmacy in 2002 and completed Pharmacy Practice (PGY1) and Cardiology (PGY2) residencies at UNC Hospitals. From 2004-2016 she practiced as a cardiology clinical specialist and cardiology residency program director at Cone Health Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. She precepted pharmacy learners as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Eshelman School of Pharmacy, University of North Carolina from 2006-2016. In 2016 Dr. Cooper became a founding faculty member at the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy where she teaches and coordinates several courses including Pharmacotherapy, Patient Safety, and a Seniors Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) Certificate Elective. Currently, she practices as a Clinical Pharmacist and SHIIP Counselor with Senior Medication Care, a program established in 2021 to collaborate with older adults for improved health and independence. Her current research focus is medication-related problems during transitions of care, particularly medication underuse and multidisciplinary team communication. She and her husband of more than 20 years have two teenage boys and they love to spend time together outside.
