Dr. Angela Shogbon Nwaesei, PharmD, BCPS is a Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Mercer University College of Pharmacy (MUCOP). She obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, and a PGY-2 Internal Medicine Residency at the same institution.
Dr. Nwaesei has been engaged in scholarly teaching, research, and service to the profession. In the scholarship of teaching and learning, Dr. Nwaesei’s research areas are global pharmacy education, interprofessional education, communication skills, and evaluation of teaching and learning strategies. She has received intramural funding to support her work in this area and has disseminated her scholarship through different avenues. In the area of clinical research, Dr. Nwaesei’s interests are in cardiology and transitions of care.
Dr. Nwaesei has a strong interest in the global advancement of pharmacy practice and has participated in developing and implementing several International Pharmacotherapy Best Practices train-the-trainer programs in Nigeria. To support her international service efforts, Dr. Nwaesei is a recipient of the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program Grant. In service to the profession, Dr. Nwaesei has been active at her COP in several leadership positions and on several AACP Committees and Task Force.
In recognition of her teaching and global pharmacy education efforts, Dr. Nwaesei is the recipient of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Education Award and teaching and program Awards from the AACP Pharmacy Practice Section and Global Education SIG respectively.
