Michael Stepanovic, PharmD, MS, is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Health-System Pharmacy Administration at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education. He also serves as a Venture Catalyst Fellow with KickStart Venture Services. Dr. Stepanovic is dedicated to advancing the pharmacy profession by educating future pharmacists and leaders, and through research that highlights the critical role of pharmacists in patient care, particularly in administrative and leadership roles. His research interests include the pharmacy supply chain, detection and impact of substandard and falsified medicines, health-system pharmacy administration, leadership development, the medication use process, clinical education, and innovation in pharmacy practice. He also teaches in the two-year Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences program with a Specialization in Health-System Pharmacy Administration.
Dr. Stepanovic completed his PharmD at Purdue University, followed by a PGY1 Acute Care Residency and a PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration & Leadership Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During his residencies, he earned his Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a Specialization in Health-System Pharmacy Administration from UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, served as Chief Resident, Interim Manager of Emergency Pharmacy Services, Pharmacy Lead of the Hospital Emergency Response Team, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Stepanovic is active in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the International Pharmaceutical Federation, as well as other professional organizations. He contributes significantly to the THRIV coalition for IV accuracy and is a committed volunteer in the community.
