Michael C. Brown, Pharm.D., serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Concordia University Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. In this role, Dr. Brown is privileged to help students navigate the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes expected of patient-centered, team-oriented pharmacists. He has been at Concordia University Wisconsin since July 2009. Dr. Brown’s instructional expertise includes medical literature evaluation, pharmacy practice research, pharmaceutical calculations, and pharmacy law. His current practice focuses on public health initiatives, most notably Mental Health First Aid and vaccination clinics. Dr. Brown’s scholarship focuses on using innovation, including technology, to enhance students’ education and assessment. He has been nationally recognized for excellence in teaching and assessment, being a recipient of the 2015 AACP Excellence in Assessment Award and a two-time recipient of the AACP Innovations in Teaching Award in 2002 and 2006. Prior to his appointment at Concordia, Dr. Brown served at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy and was an inaugural inductee into the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center’s Academy for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Dr. Brown is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy (B.S.-Pharmacy 1995; PharmD 1998). He completed a one-year primary care specialty care (ambulatory care) residency at the William S. Middleton Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin from July 1999 - June 2000.
