Dr. Petrelli holds a PhD in Educational Leadership, Higher Education administration and a M.A. in Counseling Psychology. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with Departmental Honors from Barry University. She is a seasoned higher education administrator with broad background serving diverse institutions.
Dr. Petrelli served as a founding faculty and administrator at two colleges of pharmacy serving roles in student affairs and assessment. Her teaching experience includes social and behavioral aspects of pharmaceutical care, motivational interviewing, effective communications, death and dying, techniques of counseling, African American history, and career development.
Dr. Petrelli serves as a consultant in higher education and public sectors, and keynote speaker for leadership development programs. She has extensive experience teaching Motivational Interviewing to a variety of health care professionals. Dr. Petrelli is also an active scholar, having authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in the areas of Motivational Interviewing, resilience, generational differences, academic motivation, and holistic admissions.
Dr. Petrelli has been an active member of AACP for the past 17 years and has served the academy in leadership through numerous roles of the Student Services SIG and Administrative Services Section. She also served on committees for both groups including strategic planning and communication committees. Dr. Petrelli was appointed twice to the AACP Student Services Committee, and the Admissions Workshop Advisory Committee. She also was previously appointed to serve on the Special Admissions Task Force, and regularly serves as reviewer for annual meeting posters, sessions, and New Investigator Award Nominations.
