Channing R. Ford, PhD, MPA, MA, MA, is Dean of Graduate Studies at Jacksonville State University (JSU). She received her PhD from Auburn University in Administration of Higher Education, her Master of Public Administration and Master of Arts in Communication Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and a Master of Arts in Integrated Studies from JSU. Dr. Ford has over 15 years’ experience working within higher education, starting her career at UAB within the Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care developing, implementing, and evaluating faculty development experiences through the UAB Geriatric Education Center. Within this role, she served as the director of a year-long interprofessional faculty development experience that hosted over 100 participants from various institutions across the southeastern United States. Dr. Ford transitioned to Auburn University as the Assistant Director for the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment prior to being named the Director of Assessment in the Harrison College of Pharmacy, where she was responsible for faculty development and academic assessment. Following six years at Auburn, Dr. Ford accepted her position at JSU where she is responsible for fostering graduate education to support positive learning outcomes and recognized best practices in teaching and learning. Dr. Ford has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and co-edited multiple special journal issues and a book related to the scholarship of teaching and learning. Her dedication to continued lifelong learning is exemplified by her work within health professions education and graduate education.
