Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice
Ohio Northern University
Brittany Bates, PharmD, BCPS, is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Ohio Northern University. Her background includes 15 years of hospital pharmacy experience with a focus in internal medicine and infectious diseases/antimicrobial stewardship. She had broad experience teaching in the experiential setting as an IPPE/APPE preceptor, and former residency program director. She recently transitioned to a campus-based position, but maintains a hospital-based clinical practice with responsibilities that include interprofessional rounding and collaboration. Her teaching interests include therapeutics of various infectious diseases, diabetes, and anticoagulation. She has coordinated the Infectious Diseases Therapeutic Module, in addition to teaching in many of the therapeutic and introductory courses in Ohio Northern’s 0-6 year program. She enjoys using new teaching strategies in the classroom to mimic clinical scenarios and encourage problem solving. Her interest in infectious diseases, along with the desire to explore the various implications of a global pandemic led to the development of an elective, online course open to all students at the University.
