Dr. Fawzy Elbarbry is a Professor of Pharmacy at Pacific University and clinical pharmacist at Legacy Health. Dr. Elbarbry grew up in Egypt where he received BSc and MSc degrees in pharmaceutical sciences. He received his PhD degree and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. In 2008, he relocated to Pacific University as an Assistant Professor, and in 2018, he was promoted to Full Professor. He has published more than 100 scientific papers and book chapters related to his work on using herbal remedies and natural products for preventing and treating chronic diseases. Dr. Elbarbry has presented his research at more than 150 international, national, and local scientific meetings. Dr. Elbarbry’s research program is funded by grants from the NIH and several national and state funding agencies. Dr Elbarbry serves on the Editorial Boards of prominent journals in the fields of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics. Dr. Elbarbry has mentored many undergraduate and PharmD students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty, who went on to develop their own independent research careers. Dr. Elbarbry served as a member of the Pacific University Board of trustees, Oregon Society of Health-System Pharmacists (OSHP) board of directors, and Islamic Social Services of Oregon (ISOS) board. He is a co-founder and board member of the Portland Speakers Network (PDX-MSN), and a co-chair of the Islamic Community Center of Hillsboro (ICCH) board of trustees.
