Kayla R. Joyner, Pharm.D, BCPS (she/her/hers), is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Pharmacy Practice at the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy, Shenandoah University. Dr. Joyner graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She then pursued a PGY-2 Residency in Internal Medicine/Academia at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center and Northeast Ohio Medical University.
Dr. Joyner also serves as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia. She has won multiple awards for her precepting of students and residents. Her research interests focus on clinical outcomes in pain management and infectious diseases and student outcomes research centered on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
