Sara Mahmoud is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the University of the Pacific, Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Sara Mahmoud completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Colorado, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy residency at Hamad Medical Corporation. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Academic Pharmacy at the University of Southern California. The focus of her fellowship was integrating artificial intelligence in pharmacy education, and academic administration.
Sara Mahmoud has over a decade of clinical pharmacy experience mainly in critical care, and emergency medicine. She also practiced in various other specialties: internal medicine, cardiology, general and specialized surgery, and burns.
She coordinated the corporate continuous professional development office at Hamad Medical Corporation which oversees twelve hospitals and is an ACPE accredited provider. She was responsible for accreditation, compliance, and providing professional development opportunities for pharmacists across the country. She also served on the scientific and organizing committees for the Qatar International Pharmacy Conference. Sara received many awards for her work as a pharmacist and educator, from Hamad Medical Corporation, the Ministry of Health, and the University of Colorado.
In addition to her clinical research, Sara developed an interest for digital health and Artificial Intelligence. She has described the fundamentals of AI, machine learning, and the impact of digital therapeutics on patient outcomes in the classroom, and scholarly activities. She is currently invested in integrating Artificial Intelligence and digital medicine concepts in pharmacy education.
