(443) Strengthening Faculty and Staff Success: Decreasing Administrative Overhead Associated with Advising

Objective: The purpose of this poster is to highlight how Marshall University School of Pharmacy implemented an online software to decrease administrative overhead associated with advising and student meetings.
Methods and

Results: Marshall University School of Pharmacy implemented use of an online software called Navigate in 2023-2024. Prior to Navigate, advising appointments were tracked through a paper submission process. The software helped streamline student appointment scheduling and provided a central source of documentation on advising appointments. This software allows faculty and staff to create appointment campaigns by linking electronic calendars to the system and sending messages to selected students to schedule an appointment. Once appointments are scheduled by the students they appear on the electronic calendar. Faculty or staff members can document the meeting in the system to track that advising appointments were completed and provide any necessary follow-up. The system also allows faculty and staff members to report any student concerns that be sent directly to their specific advisors and any relevant campus resources. The implementation of Navigate has resulted in an increased number of documented advising meetings and a decrease in administrative overhead associated with scheduling appointments.

Conclusions: MUSOP is working to decrease faculty and staff members administrative overhead needed to complete necessary tasks in order to use available resources judiciously.
