Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Describe Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) in context of Healthy People 2030 objectives.
  • Identify exemplar teaching and assessment models of SDOH and Healthy People 2030 integration into didactic and experiential curricula.
  • Examine opportunities for community partnerships and advocacy to advance health equity.
Social determinants of health (SDOH)—the conditions in which people live, work, learn, and play—are important factors for health access and health outcomes for individuals and communities. There is increased focus on curricular content inclusion and assessment of student competencies in cultural and structural humility to mitigate health disparities. This session invites any faculty to explore best practices for teaching and assessing SDOH content in a relevant and appropriate context for pharmacy student learners.
