Cultivating Well-Being: Insights from Pharmacy Education's Embrace of Mental Health First Aid

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the challenges and opportunities associated with creating a culture of well-being through the incorporation of MHFA training into pharmacy education.
  • Discuss the results of a nationwide survey assessing MHFA incorporation into pharmacy curricula within private and public institutions.
  • Develop an action plan for integrating MHFA as a component of creating a culture of well-being in pharmacy programs.
More recently, pharmacy education has placed a greater emphasis on student mental health and well-being. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based, early-intervention training program that many schools and colleges of pharmacy have started to explore and embrace. Faculty from four diverse pharmacy programs will share MHFA curriculum implementation challenges and successes, as well as key take-aways from a nationwide survey of ACPE-accredited pharmacy programs on implementation of MHFA.
