Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Discuss the potential professional and legal ramifications concerning academic freedom and self-expression in pharmacy education
  • Utilize best practices and expert resources to make informed decisions and guide policy making concerning academic freedom
  • Practice effective strategies to enhance institutional culture concerning academic freedom
Using an innovative, interactive and informative “mock trial” format, audience participants will decide the fate of a faculty colleague at a disciplinary hearing. Inspired by real cases, the hearing will emphasize best practices, key guidelines and landmark cases pertinent to academic freedom, institutional culture and legality in higher education today.

Speakers will play various scripted roles during the hearing, as participants engage in an interactive session with embedded deliberations, real time Q&A and voting.
