Krystal L. Ward, PhD, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Co-Curriculum at the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy, has held various leadership positions within the University of New Mexico (UNM) community. Ward joined the college of pharmacy in 2004 and since that time has steadily increased her role within the College of Pharmacy. Ward has served various roles related to the PharmD student affairs, from admissions, orientation, to retention issues. She served as admissions committee chair for two years and the admissions committee currently reports to her administratively. She coordinates orientation and student-related events. She has served as an advisor for various student organizations. Ward has been a member of AACP for over 10 years, attending the annual meeting each year, presenting in several annual meetings and presenting posters throughout the years. Ward has also been active with various AACO communities and groups. In terms of research interests, Ward’s interests include understanding student motivation in advanced degree programs, including goal orientations, mindsets and regulation of learning. She is also interested in research related to understanding recruitment, admissions, and progression of diverse student populations within a Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. Recent work has focused on student motivation and self-awareness options for pharmacy education.
