Joe R. Anderson, PharmD, PhC is the Associate Dean for Professional Education & Curricular Affairs and is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice with the University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Pharmacy (COP). He has been employed by the UNM COP since 1999 and his area of practice is Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy. He is licensed as a Pharmacist Clinician (PhC) with a clinical practice site at the UNM Heart Failure Clinic. His research interests are in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy (specifically HF, primary and secondary ASCVD prevention, and atrial fibrillation) and health outcomes, particularly as they pertain to advanced pharmacist practice. He served two-terms on the NM Board of Pharmacy. Dr. Anderson served on the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education’s Continuing Professional Development Steering Committee for 4 years. Dr. Anderson was recognized by the NM Society of Health-System Pharmacists as the Hospital Pharmacist of Year in 2005 and the Dorothy Dillon Award in 2010. Dr. Anderson was also recognized by the NM Pharmacists Association receiving the Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award in 2008. Dr. Anderson was recognized by the UNM COP as the Distinguished Alumni for 2018.
