Professor and Assistant Dean of Experiential Education

Mara Kieser, MS, RPh, BCGP is the Assistant Dean of Experiential Education at the University of Wisconsin- Madison, School of Pharmacy where she has 22 years of experience in this role. She is the chair for the School’s Experiential Learning Program Operations Committee. In addition, she is a professor in the Pharmacy Practice and Translation Research Division, and she has been the residency program director for the UW Madison School of Pharmacy Community Residency Program since 2007. Finally, she is a consultant pharmacist for Capitol Lakes Health Center in Madison, WI.
Mara earned her BS and MS degrees from the UW Madison School of Pharmacy. She completed an internship at Gundersen Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Furthermore, she completed a two-year residency in hospital administration at the UW Hospital and Clinics and a specialty residency in geriatrics and long term care at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
As the Assistant Dean for Experiential Education at the UW Madison School of Pharmacy, Mara has administrative duties overseeing experiential education including introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences (IPPEs and APPEs). Additionally, she is the course coordinator for the required ambulatory care and community APPEs.
As a consultant pharmacist for Capitol Lakes Health Center, Mara precepts second-year IPPE students for the UW Madison School of Pharmacy, participates in the Capitol Lakes behavior monitoring team, and is a member of the quality assurance team.
Mara is a member of AACP, ASCP, ASHP, APhA, PSW and PSW LTC.
