Dr. Kathy Giacomini is Dean of the UCSF School of Pharmacy and Professor of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences. Dr. Giacomini graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. She went onto complete her PhD in Pharmaceutics at the University of Buffalo followed by a Postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine. A world-renowned scientist, Dr. Giacomini is widely recognized for her work on drug transporters, transporter pharmacogenomics and transporter-mediated drug-drug interactions. She has been recognized by many awards and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
