Dr. Julie Darnell obtained her PharmD from the University of Colorado in 2019. She then moved back to her home city of San Diego for a PGY1 at University of California, San Diego focused in ambulatory care. Next she moved to LA for a PGY2 in Ambulatory Care at the VA Greater Los Angeles. During her PGY2 she completed a teaching certificate with the University of Southern California (USC), and stayed on at USC to complete a third year of training as an academic pharmacy fellow. Dr. Darnell teaches a variety of subjects in the WesternU PharmD curiculum including communications, contraception and HIV. Dr. Darnell’s clinical interests include the health needs of the LGBTQ+ community, including HIV prevention and treatment, transgender medicine, as well as polypharmacy. Her teaching interests include using games in learning, and the importance of communication in healthcare.
