Richard J. Silvia, Pharm.D., MA, FCCP, BCPP is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the MCPHS School of Pharmacy- Boston. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Rhode Island and completed a two-year residency/fellowship in psychiatric pharmacy through the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT and the University of Connecticut. He joined the faculty of MCPHS in 2001. He practices at the Codman Square Health Center in Dorchester, MA, maintaining a busy collaborative practice in integrated behavioral health within the center’s primary care clinics. His clinical practice provides needed medications for approximately 100 patients with a variety of mental illnesses. He is Board Certified in Psychiatric Pharmacy (BCPP), and is active in the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP) and American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), of which he is a Fellow (FCCP). He served as the vice-chair of the Strategic Engagement Committee of AACP from 2023-24, developing an advocacy development program for AACP members. He also consults with other clinical pharmacists starting their own collaborative practice agreements to assist their efforts. He also recently completed a Masters of Arts in Adult Education through the University of Rhode Island in December, 2023. His research interests include evaluating how various factors can affect entrustability, including skill level and environmental complexity. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and their pets, playing music and softball, and woodworking.
