Erika L. Kleppinger, Pharm.D., BCPS is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy (HCOP). Dr. Kleppinger is a course coordinator and skills activity coordinator for first professional-year students at HCOP. She has been an integral team member in the development and implementation of HCOP’s Practice Ready Curriculum with a focus on innovating the PharmD curriculum through modifying assessment strategies, enhancing student remediation, and coordinating performance-based assessments and objective structured clinical exams (OSCEs). She also teaches in many areas of the Practice Ready Curriculum, including patient assessment skills, communication skills, the pharmacists’ patient care process, self-care, dermatology, cough and cold management, and immunization certification training.
Dr. Kleppinger’s outreach efforts include coordinating the HCOP Resident Teaching and Learning Program (RTLP), mentoring pharmacy residents in various teaching activities, and assisting with the creation and implementation of a summer Pharmacy Camp for high school students. Her research efforts are dedicated to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Dr. Kleppinger is active in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). She has served on several committees within the Section of Teachers of Pharmacy Practice and the Council of Faculties. She is also an active member and previous chair of the Laboratory Instructors Special Interest Group. Most recently, she served on the 2021-2022 AACP Competency-Based Education Taskforce.
