Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Describe social determinants of education and their potential impact on student success.
  • Outline strategies for identifying social determinants of education among pharmacy learners.
Social determinants of education (SDOE) affect students' ability to optimally participate in their education. Identification of social determinants students encounter during their professional training is necessary to promote equitable opportunities for students, as well as student success. This session describes existing SDOE frameworks and shares one institution's approach to identifying SDOE through the development and distribution of a novel survey to our pharmacy students. This session is geared towards pharmacy educators and administrators.
