Charting the Course: A Deep Dive into the ACCP 2023 Pharmacotherapy Curriculum Toolkit

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Explain the purpose of the ACCP didactic pharmacotherapy toolkit and the process for revision amid the national discussion on curricular overload.
  • Describe specific changes made from the 2019 ACCP didactic pharmacotherapy toolkit to the revised 2023 toolkit.
  • Develop an action plan to implement strategies at your home institution to optimize and align the pharmacotherapy curriculum with toolkit updates.
As the amount of medical knowledge continues to expand, faculty are tasked with prioritizing pharmacotherapy content for inclusion in often overloaded curricula. The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) routinely issues guidance on topic prioritization through the Pharmacotherapy Toolkit, most recently updated in 2023. This session will describe key updates concerning contemporary pharmacotherapy content for inclusion along with updates made to mitigate curricular overload. Best practices on its utilization and implementation will also be discussed.
