Professor Acosta, R.Ph., M.S., is Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Clinical Professor in the Pharmacy Practice Division at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy.
She earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Pharmacy from The University of Texas at Austin.
Professor Acosta served as Assistant Dean for Admissions and Advising from 2015-2017, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 2017-2023, and is currently serving as the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Professor Acosta teaches extensively in the professional Pharm.D. curriculum. Her primary teaching is in the nonprescription and self-care course series. She coordinates and teaches an elective designed to provide students with tools to enhance their academic success and life-long learning. She actively mentors students through the professional development and interprofessional education course series. In addition, she supervises students completing Honors Research activities and precepts students on multiple Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs).
Professor Acosta has been recognized for her contributions to teaching excellence and the use of new learning platforms and technology in the classroom. She is recognized annually by students for her teaching and mentoring. Most recently, she was awarded Educator of the Year by the students in 2023.
Currently, her scholarship is in the areas of the use of technology and standardized patients in teaching skills-based courses to further student learning and development, and factors that impact student progression and academic success.
