Director of Experiential Education & Associate Professor

Mary Douglass Smith, PharmD is the Director of Experiential Education and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy in Clinton, SC. She is responsible for the overall planning, institution and oversight of the IPPE program and quality assurance of the pharmacy practice sites. In her position, she has established and expanded preceptor development programs to provide meaningful, targeted education to the preceptors for the school. In addition, Dr. Smith teaches in compounding lab, community pharmacy lab, therapeutics of self-care, and the APPE-Readiness elective that prepares P3 students for their fourth year rotations. Her research interests include personality assessments, student well-being, and professional development. She serves on the editorial board of Currents in Pharmacy Teaching and Learning and is a member of the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
